Here in So. Calif. because of the bark beetle problem we don't normally trim pines in the summer months, waiting for cooler weather when the beetles are less active or in a their larva or pulpa (sp?)stage. We have some large deador cedars we want to do some work on . I haven't been able to find any ingraver or beetle that attacks the deador, but would not want to endanger these trees by leaving them susceptible to attack. Any advice would be appropriated. Thanks.
