My friend Jamie is looking to buy Pferd files in the Pferd boxes. Many times, top brand files can be had in other manufacturers boxes, he wants the blue Pferd boxes. His complaint is that even vhen he can find Pferd files the seller doesn't have every size. Who carries the whole line?

My limited experience is that anyone that carries the line can get any part not normally carried by looking in their supplier catalogue and finding the correct part numbers. That's if the store wants yer business.
I think Pferd has a website...maybe another option?

I get them from Baileys and they come in the blue boxes. And they could order any size made by that manufacturere.

Thanks Guys, I'm gonna be calling Baileys soon anyway I'll ask about the files. Their catalog only lists 5/32 7/32.

File sizes:

Just wondering if someone could list the correct file size for various size chains, including the older chains. Some of what I've found are as follows.

1. 1/4" & .325" chain use 3/16" files.

2. .375 ( 3/8 low profile) use 5/32" files.

3. .375 ( 3/8 standard chain) use 7/32 files.

4. .404 chain use 7/32 files.

5. .750 ( 3/4" chain) use 5/16" files.

For the older chains such as 7/16", .500" and 9/16" chain what is recomended? Asked a couple local saw shops and they haven't a clue. Just thought someone might know here. Thanks. Lewis.

All Pferd files, bar dresser, and the great Chain Sharp tool for sale

Files come in a "course, and fine" tooth configuration.

The Chain Sharp is one of the easiest tools to use, not only filing the cutter, but the depth guage at the same time.

They also make a great saw chain grinding wheel. Wheel is colored white which helps to show when the wheel is starting to get dirty (plugged)

Email, or PM for pricing.

Old file sizes:

Thanks Ray for the information. I'll add it to my notebook I keep on chain info. Thanks again. You take care. Lewis.
