If it was my jobsite I would have, but I don't have 2 60 ton groves at my disposal. lol It was a training course I went to specifically for crane work so obviously they weren't going to put us in a high target area while we practiced.

With Mayer's equipment craning those trees still makes sense though. Most of them would only be one or two picks each and it allows you to contain the mess to just in front of the chipper. Instead of turfing up the whole works by dropping them onto and then moving them off of the lawn with a skidsteer or other ground equipment.

I'll probably remove the maple next year. It had advanced girdling root, strangling top. Chipper was behind fence to chip bigger maple that was off to right.
