I picked up a really clean Wright 141, it has great compression and spark but refuses to hit even if I pour gas in the carb / cylinder. I guess I need to check the flywheel key next - I'm open to suggestions...........

The way I do it with old saws that I'm trying to repair is:

I take the plug out, clean it, check for spark/compression, spray a quick shot of carb cleaner into the plug hole, replace plug. Then I choke it and if it doesn't pop or start within 5 or so pulls then I start looking at things like the flywheel, etc.

I've had saws do weird stuff though! Especially McCulloch saws. For example, the other day I was fixing up a 10-10S and I couldn't get it to start with carb cleaner, gas, starter fluid ... I had rebuilt the carb, cleaned everything, you name it ... I finally got frustrated and just took the plug out for a while. Put it back in and no go. So I said the heck with it for the night. Next morning I went out and thought I'd just pull it for the heck of it. The darn thing fired right up and ran on its own. It's run strong since. :dizzy:
