Thought i'd share some pic of the saws and gear i ran across and ended up buying right before Christmas. I'd been ok all year and had not bought much. 2 weeks before Christmas i had 5 new saws, 1 pole saw and a multi tool!!

PS-5105 SC. 2009 model.
Already own one of these awesome saws but price was right so i grabbed it. Real low hour saw. 5 hours approx.
Looks like the bloke sold it because he was cutting steel girders with it!! The chain was buggered. Probably the worst i have ever seen. I measured it and it seems to have never been sharpened, just trashed. He also was doing the bar nuts up with pliers as the nuts were badly burred. Swapped the 20" 325 setup for a 16" 3/8. $400 to my door from the US.

Husqvarna 346 XP NE. 2011 non cat non etech.
Always wanted one. Would of traded a spare kidney or something for one but couldn't justify it with all the 50cc class saws i had at the time. Plus $1249 retail over here kinda sucks big time. Don't know how but i got in first on this. Seriously looks like a 4-5 hour old saw. Cleaned it up and went through the whole saw and only issue is it leaks a bit of bar oil when sitting overnight. No big deal will fix that soon. I am cheering. Never thought i would own a 346XP NE for under $400. Let alone an almost brand new one!! I Put a 64DL 325 chisel and Oregon pro-lite bar on it and it plain rips!! Gotta be one of the best saws ever made....period. :rock:All hail the King

Huski 338XPT New Edition 14" 3/8 mini.
Just got plain sick and tired of my old 334T. It's started running erratically. It won't idle right, chain always spins or it stalls. Also has a noticeable flat spot in the throttle response that i can't tune out to fix. I think it has an air leak and needs a carb kit. Found this 338XPT New Edition. Very clean, 100% working and again a low hour saw. I retuned it on the tach as i am over 2300 feet higher than where it came from in Florida. Put a new Stihl yellow chain on it and this thing cuts rings around my 334T. Should of done the upgrade sooner. $300 delivered to my door from the US.

Huski 45 and Mc Culloch pro mac 700
Got these for $50 each including some spare chains for both saws. I gave the 45 to my neighbour and good mate to replace his 460 Rancher which i will sell for him. He won't miss the 460's huge weight and bulk and he doesn't need such a large saw anyway. Plus he is getting on now so i thought a smaller lighter saw would be a lot safer and easier to use, plus kinder on his back!! He is always helping me out when he doesn't have to so i try to return the many favours whenever i can. He aint getting the pro mac 700. It's in real nice shape for its age. Just as nice and yellow as when the chainsaw gods made it. That's a keeper.

Kawasaki TJ27E pole pruner.
I found this brand new never seen fuel on ebay. It didn't sell because the seller could not spell "kawasaki" or "pole pruner" so no one could find it. Made him an offer and he took it. Just have to get the parts now from the US to turn this into a KMS27 multi tool. Fantastic machine. Good power and very light. $300 delivered.

Shindaiwa M230 multi tool.

Bought this right before the Kawasaki as i needed a new multi tool with a good hedger for my work. Shopped around and got a fantastic deal on this M230 as it was the last one they had. Saved over $400 buying it as a package over retail. Quality Japanese tool just like the Kawasaki. Plus the dealer i got it from now does arborist supplies, so got a new ocean polyester eye to eye cord, DMM hitch climber pulley, Petzl Pantin foot ascender plus a few other climbing bits and pieces and 8 Litres of Huski 2 stroke oil.

I think i did alright.... seeing as they are all keepers and will be used all the time for my work.

It's not all the time you have a 2-3 week period like that. I am still recovering. A little bird in my ear tells me jokingly that i won't need to buy any saws now next year because i did so well. I suppose i can see the logic behind it but she knows me better than that. :D Come to think of it my 365 X-torq is getting on a bit and a Jonsered 2260 with a port job from Terry at Wicked work saws would keep that Holiday cheer in me a little longer......

That Shindaiwa 230 engine is good for 3000 hours easy ( I have over 30 and 3 new in the box still). The best 22.5cc engine made. I wish I knew where to find them suckers at, I haven't been able to buy them here for about 10 years. They still sell 230s down in Australia?

They are the current model engine here for the 2-stroke multi tool as well as certain models of trimmers and brushcutters. I was just lucky to get such a great deal due to it being the last one on the shelf before they had to order more. I got it from one of Sydney's largest chain dealers for husqvarna and shindaiwa. (as well as other major brands) The salesman who i had been speaking to for the week or so before i decide on the purchase said they are a bullet proof proven engine. All the councils and garden contractors who can afford one have them because they outlast anything from Stihl. Many people over look these and go straight for the Stihl Kombi's. I used the Stihls for many years and hated them. Heavy, starting problems galore, important high wear parts made from plastic constantly breaking and also very expensive. Plus several brand new units i had had to be modified by the dealer so they would be able to start without flooding constantly. Would never buy one ever again. Too much lost time playing around with a brand new machine.

These 230's might have been around for a while, but for reliability and power to weight they compete with any new release engines today. Plus it has a real air filter, not just a small foam ring like some brand name units. I plan on having it and the Kawasaki TJ27E for many many years. Probably the best 2 trimmer 2-stroke engines ever made right there!!

Sounds to me like the rubber intake on your 334 is cracked- I've fixed a few like that. Good haul, lucky man!!!

Thanks for the advice, I will be tearing the saw down and going through it and replacing what needs to be done. Will sell it but want to sell it working properly. Even an oldie like this will fetch $300 here if fully working and in good cosmetic shape.

I aint all that lucky... I keep hearing how i don't need any new saws for a while now cus i got so lucky with all these. I won't tell her about the 562XP i got arriving next week so i can try out an AT saw. I will be selling it on but i will be hearing all about it until it is actually sold and gone!!

Pro Mac 700 was my first real felling saw. Hard to get parts for, but yours won't care. It will be around when both of us are gone.

The old farmer i bought it from said it was his favourite saw. He had used newer lighter saws over the years but he kept going back to the same old mac in the shed because each new saw would come and go, while the mac kept working without any problems.

My first real saw was my dad's Pro Mac 610 which i still have. 31 years old this year. Never had anything done to it except new filters as needed and a carb kit around 10 years ago. These old macs just have so much torque. Probably why i have such a soft spot for them. This ones a keeper. The powermatch bar and chain is worth more than the $50 he wanted for the whole saw. I could tell he was genuinely sad to see it go, but was getting too heavy and he just couldn't use it safely anymore. He was the best part of 85 years young.

It looks like you made a good haul, but I think you will like the addition of an AT saw. I recently got one and so far it has been a good runner.

Which one did you get? How do you find the saw runs initially from cold? A little bit erratic for a minute or two until the AT sorts itself out?

I have been hearing good things about the 545, 555, 550XP and 562XP. I have been a bit stubborn regarding the AT saws. Like any new technology after we stop being skeptical and it has been around for a while it will become so common we will probably all wonder how we managed without it.

As an addition, i have a 562XP stock brand new saw coming my way hopefully next week for me to try out. If i like it i will sell it on and try to get the ported 2260 hopefully before Easter.

Those 230s have been around for at least 20 years. I have been running them forever. In fact, I am going to be honest, I have never killed one. Of course I have to put new carbs on them and even new mufflers, but the engines are unreal. I use them every single day for 9 months straight with hardcore "I don't care abuse" from my guys and they never fail me. Don't even mention a 2 cycle Stihl trimmer/brushcutter/multi-tool power head in the same sentence as that little 230 Shindaiwa. The 230/260/270 Shindaiwa was the best trimmer series ever produced, easy. And I know they are extremely expensive in Australia, but thank you for letting me know they still sell them there because I am seriously thinking about how this would be a great excuse to take a vacation there and pickup about 10. :bowdown:All hail the OLD Shindaiwa which stills seems to exist in your part of the world.

They still sell chainsaws too down there by chance?

I got the 2252. It started right up and ran good cutting cookies from some cants. Then did some cutting in some 30" logs and it seemed to smooth out and get stronger as multiple longs cuts were made. I believe you will like the 562. I have run a ported one and really liked it. Actually I have run 2 of them. You will be able to use the same bar on it that you run on your 365xt and your 7900. I do like the looks of the 2260 better, but that is just a personal preference.

They sure do sell saws. Whole range from small 35cc pruning saws to top handles and 70cc logging saws. Very high quality saws. I have used a few over the years. They are built like a tank. A mate of mine who is a builder and sells firewood during the winter has a 577P with the hi-top filter. It would have to be 12 years old and it gets treated pretty rough but it just keeps working year in year out. He doesn't ever fix his saws out of warranty unless it is something small. Basically when something major breaks he goes and gets a new saw. He runs it along side a brand new MS290. I told him he was stupid buying that rubbish "homeowner" Stihl, i told him to get another Shindaiwa, now he believes me as it has been back for warranty repairs many times.

Regarding the M230, i paid just over $1100 AUD for powerhead, trimmer, articulating hedger and the polesaw. That was about $400 off retail. So yeah pretty pricey over here, but i know i have bought a quality reliable tool that i will have for almost forever. I will be using it often for my work, mainly for hedging and polesaw work.

Sounds good. Glad you are happy with your new saw. I do like to looks of the 2260 better myself also, but i have not ever held one so unsure if i will like the feel of the different handle angle. Plus i have been told that the 2260 uses the small mount K095 bars and not the large mount D009 bars like my 365xt and the 562xp? I have got a few brand new GB titanium 20" bars in the large mount up in the shed so would be good to use them and not buy new bars again. I do have 20" in small mount but they are .325" and would prefer to run 3/8" on a saw as big as a 562xp.

I never bought the multi-tool, but I remember I was buying 230 trimmers for $220-$250 20-10 years ago. I don't care, a grand would be worth a new one considering they last 10 times longer than anything I could buy here, lol. I bet just the trimmer is $500 there?

Yes you got it in one. The 230 trimmer retails for $499. For me it was actually cheaper to get the multi tool 230 powerhead and the trimmer attachment than to get the actual trimmer.

The two ported 562 models were both ported by Terry Landrum. The 20" tech lite bar makes a real nice bar for the 562. I have 3 jonsered saws and 3 huskys and I don't really notice the difference in the handlebars.

Yeah i'm going to get Terry to do mine when i stop farting around and make a decision.

Do you have any idea if this is true?

Both the 2260 and 560xp use the K095 husqvarna small mount bars, whereas the 562xp uses the larger mount D009.

Ok. I had been told that from Sawtroll. I don't want to doubt the guy but i was unsure as i thought they were the same saw.

So then the 2260 and the 560xp are basically the same saw. Same mount and both have the smaller air filter?

So what are the differences between the 562xp and the 560xp? Not much from the looks of it apart from the bar mount and air filter again. Almost seems stupid making saws so similar but intentionally different. It confuses me anyway. :dizzy:
