I am going to pick up a chipper Saturday. its an Asplundh woodchuck with a pintle. do I need a pintle ball or hook? anyone know the size ball if so?
 
I would use a latching pintle hitch. I guess that's what being referred to as a pintle ball? Just a 2 5/16" ball alone will not lock the trailer down you realize of coarse.
 
OK yes I have seen those, I have a hook and clasp type so thats what I use, but for a chipper either will work just fine.
