Nice high revving little saw! Its had some use but over all not too bad. I just did the basics, good cleaning, rebuilt the WA carb and new gasket. New fuel line and filter. The bar and rim sprocket were worn out. I ordered a new oregon drum and .325 rim then added an 18" bar and chain that I had on my Dolmar 540 before I swapped it to 3/8''. Its an '87 from what I can see and a well built saw. I know a lot of members here really like these saws including Modified Mark so I was happy to add it to the stable.:cool2:

i own two 500's, i like them alot, not quite as fast as the 5000's, but still a nice lite saw that gets the job done:cool2:

Nice saw, but it isn't quite what the P5000 is.

Ah I forgot thats the saw Mark has. Not the 500. Is the porting different on the 5000? More ccs? Also one other thing I forgot to mention. This saw has 2 notches on the flywheel for the key. I know the are factory. Id assume you could advance/retard the timing? Never seen that before.

The 500 has an open port cylinder, and also lack the AV "braze" between the front and rear handle.

Both are 44mm bore, 48.7cc.

Yeah Joe, you could say I like em.

You must not have seen this thread I started a little bit ago!

That 87 model is one of the last of those, as I'm guessing they were done in 88. (the last year of the Pioneer/Partner brands)

It is surprising to me that the 500's never did get the lower handle bar brace like the 5000's etc got.

I'm not sure I remember the reason for the 2 flywheel key slots....

At least the newer open port/semi pro ones did! :msp_wink:

It actually surprices me more that the Jonsered 490 didn't.
