What is you look for when you check the piston through the exhaust port after removing the muffler. A scored piston...what is it exactly. There is a saw I'm thinking about and want to check it out. It started up and ran good. Didn't cut anything with it though. Also any more advice on buying a used saw? By the way.......it's a 394 :D

Thanks,
Doug

Each saw has it special quirks. The weakness of the 394 was the area around the bar studs. Inspect around the studs for cracks in the housing. If there are any, pass on the deal. You may have to remove the bar plate and clean the area but look real close. Mike
