My wife and I have finally gotten around to decorating our basement. Well she had me making some decorations for her Christmas trees, and the next day, I was watching Barnwood Builders and got inspired.
She has been needing a coffee table, and I've been needing a reason to cut some big wood.
I have a log in my field that is around 42" across. We took it down when we moved in because it was hollow and dangerous.
Anyway, I thought, that it would make an awesome table.
I pulled out the 36" bar and cut myself a 20" long cookie. I had that bar completely buried and it didnt even hesitate. Not bad for a clone.
Drug it to the house and had the kids scrub it down and remove all the old bark.
And then hit it with a wire wheel on my angle grinder.
Those beetles left some character to this wood.
Now I just need to let it dry a little more. It was already pretty dry, it's been dead for years, but it's still a little wet.
Then to figure out how to seal it and then how to get it down the steps.
