After nearly two years of pouring my heart and soul into re-establishing the Dolmar name in my local area, and establishing a steadily growing business with a growing number of loyal customers, working almost for free in the attempt to create something from nothing, Central Power Systems and Dolmar have pulled my dealership. That is the thanks I get for doing a great amount of advertising at my expense and with my time. I am asking everyone who is willing, to boycott everything Dolmar. If this is the way that IDN and Dolmar want to do business, then I want no part of it anyway, and I want everyone to know the lack of integrity that they are displaying. I now have to turn to the many customers who have bought saws from me and expected me to be able to supply parts and warranty work, and say sorrry, I can no longer offer those services.

On top of that, I was never informed of the decision, until I was attempting to place an order for saws and parts that I have already promised people.

Dolmar and their distributors are the only ones who have benefitted from my hard work, and I made that sacrafice willingly to grow a business in hopes of future returns. Now all I have sacraficed for has come to naught.

Thank you to all you guys on Arboristsite that have done business with me over the last year or so. The shop will now be closing.

Tony, sorry to hear that. I will call CPS tomorrow and let them know what I think of the deal.

Tony,
Why do you have to close your shop?
Can't you get an agreement with Stihl, Husqvarna or Poulan, etc.?
That's too bad, good luck.

Well Tony i'm sorry to hear this about your venture. All I can say is that I have been whith Dolmar since 1979 now doing business with our seventh distributor and so far API is doing very well for us. May I ask if they found another dealer in your area?

Efco makes a good saw. I'm sure they would play with you.

Good Luck man,

Fred

Try looking for another brand dealership,if possible a big name.Too bad you have to close your shop,Dolmar probably found probably a new guy near you that promise them a big booking of saws, often the area rep is responsible for those move.

The closest Dolmar shop is 30 miles from me, and last time I checked, stocked fewer saws then I do (did). They are a lawn and garden place. I am only a saw shop, and someone who uses and knows saws. Many of my local customers come because the other places near by do not offer the knowledge, service, and attention to detail that I do. Stihl has a major dealer nearby, and Husqvarna has dealers too, although not nearly as big or knowledgeable. I wanted to sell Dolmar because I believed they have a superior product (in some areas), were going to grow, and there were no dealers near by. It seems that although I believed in Dolmar, they didn't believe in me! I do not wish to pursue other brands at this time, and I will be selling out my inventory over time, maybe doing some business with GB yet, and sharpening chains.

All big companies care about is the bottom line

I learned that a long time ago. If they feel that they can make more elsewhere off they go.

Big companies do not care about the little guy. When I was growing up my father ran up to 4 service stations leased from a major oil company. Every year they would only give him a one year lease on their terms. Each year it would come up for renewal and they would put off agreement to any of his requests till the day it was over and then say take our terms or move out. After this went on for about 10 years. Finally fed up, he went out and bought his own building, got a supply agreement with a different oil company and on the day they said "take our terms or move out" he moved out. The service station was never again was able to stay open for more than a couple of months at a time and after being in that location for 30 year 2 years later it was changed to a glass repair shop.

The lesson is get a long term commitment from suppliers before committing to them.

Now I have never ever even hear of Dolmar before coming to this site as they have no presence here so you don't have to worry about them getting any money from me.

It is not fair to bash Dolmar as a brand...
You got a ????ty agent that's for sure, I bet Dolmar know nothing of this.

What do they claim the reason for this is?
Can you not go above these distributors if things has not been fair?

I know you said you wanted to sell superior product saws, but you'd be surprised how many Joe Weekend cutters there are out there who buy 'cheap' saws and have NO CLUE how to maintain them.
Then there are the kind of people who buy from box stores and there is no service for them, so they have to find a dealer of such saws to work on them.

...here in central ohio, car quest auto parts carries them. surely because of the volume of bodies that flow in and out of this place.
...it saddens me to learn that dolmar would foresake a committed dealer for the likes of an auto parts store.
...now, i know these guys, and they are very good at what they do. they know auto parts, they can get it all.
...told me they've sold a "boatload" of these saws and blowers. told them i'm pretty handy around chainsaws, tweaking, sharpening, trouble-shooting, that sort of thing.
...jimmy says, great, but i'm in the auto parts business.
...there ya go.......................................................

But why? They must have a reason, and get it in writing.

I have considered buying another saw and a Dolmar is at the top of the list. The reputation of their products being what it is. I have hesitated due to the lack of any local dealers. Something like this does not build my confidence in Dolmar's commitment to expand their dealer base.
TonyM, sorry to hear the news.

Oh but I like my PS 5100 and 7900 they are so fast, who f@ckin' cares.

All saws get through a log the same way. It does not matter to me if its .134secs faster. What matters to me is a good dealer along with good company reps.

I had a little problem with a Stihl rep. a few years ago and will NEVER patronize Stihl again. Now that Dolmar has shafted you, Tony, I will never buy a Dolmar. If this is how they treat their "employees" which is a direct reflection on how they run a business, then image what some of their products must be or are going to be. I question the future and the management of Dolmar, without dealer backing Dolmar might just as well be a Poulan.

there is nothing worse than being self employed, and still have to deal with big business greed.you think your endependent until something like this. sorry to here about your shop.:blob2:

Well, I offered my support in the only way I know how, I emailed Tony and ordered some GB bars. If any of you guys really want to help, figure out what Tony sells and you need.
