I am about to get a 16" hooked blade ARS on the 18-1/2' polesaw.

But if I go for a Silky instead, is it safe to assume that the problematic clamp models have worked their way out of the system?

The saw will be for ground use.

Thanks. I'll go with the ARS for now.

The "babying" period for new gear is only temporary, then the piece has to work as hard as I do. Glad to hear it will hold up.

About the same time Brian got his ARS, I got a 2 section Silky. About a month later I got a 4 section Silky. I am very happy with both. Used hard, I have had no problem with the clippy things.

Is there slop where the ARS head comes off? Sure don't miss the sloppy play of the removable head from Jamison glass polesaws.

i bought a silky zubat convertable 1/2 a year ago. not problems, light, sharp, and good price. never tried the other brand.
