thanks i jest started climbing so i dont have the most money but if there that good i will prapually buy one then tho it wouldent be hard to fab one up mabe olny an hour and some scrap metal from the shop tho

Listen bro,

I understand your logic whole-heartedly. I think everyone here was a beginner at one point, I know I was. And I was broke and had no gear, so I get it.

However, the danger with fab'ing it, IMO, is that it is going to be hard for you to match the craftsmanship and quality control that goes into the port-a-wrap in your shop. That being said, I am sure that you can make something that would work. I had an excellent welder that worked for me when I was full-time in NY, and I would bet a case of beer that he could make me a port-a-wrap for less money than I could buy one.

HOWEVER:

Sooner or later whatever you make is gonna break. And when it breaks, it's gonna be at the most inopportune time. You could kill yourself, or someone else. You could destroy a house, crush a truck, break your leg, smash your groundie's head, etc etc etc. When, not IF, but WHEN your welds eventually fail, your going to have a real mess on your hands.

Save up the 200 bucks, and get the legit Port-a-wrap.

My two cents.

Don't play Mr. Do-It-Yourself when it could very well be a matter of life or death, no joke. Most of us in here, I would imagine, have a PAW. It's a great piece of equipment and not all that expensive. Work a few gigs and save your money. If you get in the habit of making do with rigged stuff, you'll set the stage for keeping with that "quality" and have a tougher time getting ahead in this profession.

thanks for the advice i will take it hole heartidly and save up the money and buy one. thats why i asked any wase thanks for saveing me from a headake later on down the rode

Most of us have one. All of us would go out and buy another tomorrow if we lost ours today. None of us are disappointed with ours. You don't need to try before you buy, you will like it.

P.S. Don't think you need to charge less cuz your just starting out. You should charge the same as the experienced pro would for the tree, just take longer to get it done.
