I drop huge pine tops all the time.

I have to speak up in case anyone in my area sees this. We are in the middle of a huge pine beetle epidemic. I have cut down more dead, brown pines than I can remember. They are brittle and slab out when they hit the ground. Thye break up when they land on a green lawn, nevermind if they tag an obstruction. Do not ever rig anything big off dead or dying pines, its just not wise.

Clearance,

I'm sure the heads up will help some of our western cannucks.

In Toronto our concern is with the Asian Long Horn Beetle. They (government) are cutting whole tracts of woods (municipal) in hopes to stop the spread of this pest.

Unfortunately I think their efforts will be in vain though.

Sad to hear that. This pine beetle thing us huge here, bigger area than P.E.I.. Also there is a problem with fir (diferent beetle, root rot) and spruce bugs. I remember not to long ago when dead trees really stood out, not so now. millions of them, everywhere you look.
