Hello, I am a new member and am looking for a Portable Band-saw Mill to come to my House. My House is in the Town of Amsterdam, New York. I need to find someone really fast. The logs are Eastern White Cedar, around 22" in Diameter and between 6' & 9' Long, there are only 5 logs. Thanks in advance.

sounds like an easy job, but I'm on the other coast with a stationary mill...

WoodMizer site is not a bad idea, as mikeb suggested.

I'd try craigslist and local papers if your not having any luck. If those don't work try contacting people selling rough sawn lumber, and maybe they can help you.

If you only have 5 logs, find someone with a stationary mil. Figure a way to get them in a pick-up (should not take more than 2 trips).

I pass 2 custom mills on the way to work daily, of course there are a lot of Amish around here.

I would think having someone come out and set-up for just 5 logs would cost a bit.

You might be suprised how affordable it can be. I'm in NC, so not in position to bid on this job, but I can tell what I would charge around here.
I get $1.25 per mile one way to pull the mill to the jobsite and set it up. Depending on how he wants them cut up, the sawing time would be something between 2 hrs and 5 hrs total mill time.
His bill would be something between $130 and $350 for someone within 30 miles. Not bad for 800-900 bf of White Cedar
