A 460 built by Randy (or most builders) will put a serious smack down on a stock 461. I have a MM 460 and it will pull a 32" buried in oak like a bull in a china shop.

I agree- the difference between a ported 460 and 461 will be very hard to detect. The 461 does have operating characteristics that lend itself to user comfort, like the anti-vibe and RPM range where it develops peak power. I have a ported 046 that Randy helped me with that's a real monster though. It's running an 064 piston and rings. It consistently holds 11-11.5k in the cut with a sharp chain- whether you're running a 20" bar buried or a 36" bar.

I've only done one 460 I would call a hot rod. It was a freak and was faster in 25" maple than the ported 288 and 395o_O The 461s I ran that Randy ported were nicer to me than the 046/460s.

I have a 460 and 461 both built by randy and the 461 is stonger. It will handle a grabby chain better

Fastleo151 posted under my name. I wish I had those saws. I am stuck with a fleet of made in china dolmars
