High winds twisting trunk possibly...during freeze temps?

Some of this wounds are old, some seem to be newer.
I have no idea what could have caused the damage.

Don't forget mechanical damage or lightning as possibles.

 But why so caught up on the specific causal that happened years ago? Trees are self optimizing, callus response looks reasonable. Ensure optimum cultural conditions, risk assess, monitor.

Just trying to learn more.

Fair enuf.

Take the time to climb up and assess the canopy in each tree. Ensure callus response. Without it you have an issue @ that location. Frass from the deadwood is scavengers. Frass from live wood is from predators. Lose the turf underneath if poss. Mulch ring. Resist modern ferts.
