Years ago, when I worked for a municipality, we turned over all of the tricky electrical hazard jobs to the power comp. They had a contractor remove everything above the power lines and we took care of the rest. Recently, a friend told me that there was a federal law requiring the power companies to do just that, regardless of the ownership of the tree.
Is this true, and when was it enacted?
Any idea how to reference it?
Thanks much!

I doubt there is a federal law covering this. More likely just SOP for the utilities to have their own people messing around near the lines.
