Do you have a standard distance you have to stay away from lines in your particular state or does it vary ive always heard 10 feet is that an average or will your power company drop your line for you? Here in side city limits they will come and drop the line going to the house if you call ahead but the line in my way is in the country and a major line shouldnt the company have to prune the tree back them selves? THANKS!

Call your power company...it's their responsibility.

Well here in ks the power company doesnt want to get off there a## and do s#@$ before the tree crushes the ho s house so i guess ill try and call them on the hos behalf !thanks!

I know how that goes, but squeaky wheel gets the grease. Just be patient with them, and don't get cranked. I have the HOs call in, they are the customers. Good Luck.

Several times here around here i have worked with power co and Wright Tree to clear power lines for me to make it safe for us to climb and trim a customers tree. Haven't had any problems with them doing it.
Where abouts in Kansas are you at?

Yeah by law if your not a qualified line clearance tree trimmer you must maintain 10 foot from voltage up to 50kv I believe is the rule then distance increases with every kilo volt. I am qualified so I can do it but if it is going to be time consuming fo me I will get them to clear it!
