I have an opportunity to buy some short lengths of Sta-Set . I was thinking this would be great for VT hitches. My choices are 3/8ths or 7/16ths diameter and I am not sure which would be best for use as a VT hitch. I use 1/2 New England Hi-Vee climbing line. My current set-up is a pre-made 8 or 9mm VT ( can`t name the supplier here;) ) that burned up with just regular use. I want to try making my own this time around. Any suggestions....

Thanks
Stew

I use a 5/16 cheapo double braid mostly.

I'm reqally liking some rescue cord that Brain sent me last year. It's the longest lasting cord I've had, since it chars a little vs. melting. It does not goo up my climbing line when I descend too fast also.

Was that the stuff you got from BigJohn?

Yup, I still have almost all of it left. I tried it but it was too stiff for my taste. I also went from the Distel to the VT about that time so I quit burning my cords right at that one spot on top. If you want the rest of it, I'll sell it to you for the $1 per foot I paid. PM me and I'll see how much I have left.

let me know how much there is and I'll descide if it's worth the postage.

I prefer to go somewhere and get it bulk to spread the shipping cost out

I primarilly use the 5/16 ultratech also,,,but also have the sta-set i prefer the ultra tech for it's easy spliceability however ive noticed the cover burns pretty easy,,I haven't incurred this w/ the sta set but what puzzles me is i was told that the covers on both ultra tech and sta set are identical materials,,,does this seem screwy...

Similar, not identical

Do a long straight rap and you'd melt both in a heartbeat.
