I need to pruchase a chipper, I found one advertised private owner.
Pro Mark 1991 I guess I'm not sure of the model I thought it would be the 310 I'll post a picture listed tab below, This chipper is the large sized model. Straight six engine, approx 12" feed.
I've looked it over and decided that I only know vermeer chippers BC 1000 XL and no other, I've used this model and loved it.
I guess I need some opinions from people in the buisness. Is this an all right machine in the long run?
Would $5000.00 be too much?
I'm going to need more information to make such an investment.
If there are better brands out there or deals, are there any suggestions?
Everything about the machine looked decent, and I suppose that it would work for me, still a bit confused.
Thanks.

Is this basically what you are referring to?

Here is an old thread you might enjoy reading.

Basically, you have to decide what you are expecting out of it. What are your applications?

And 5K seems a bit steep to me for no more than what you have here.

Google and compare, I'm seeing them go for much less.

We have a Gravely Pro Chip 395 at work and it is a very good chipper. Someone along the way told me that Gravely and Promark merged and were basicly the same machines. If that is true, I wouldnt have a problem running a Promark. The machines are very simple to maintain and perform well. Dont only take my word on this one since I could be wrong. As for the price, how many hours are on it and what kind of condition is it in? $5k does seem a bit high, but if it is super low hours and in very good shape, it might be worth it.

pro mark 1991

i found out that it must be a different model than what I had thought.
I have a picture posted of the chipper.
If that helps answer my question.
Thanks

Ariens who owns Gravely bought Pro Mark back in the 90's. The unit you are looking at is the same as the Gravely 395. As a matter of fact I think the Pro Mark # was a 395 also. Very solid and simple machine.

That is not our 395 but it does have some very similar features. If you end up buying that chipper send me a PM and I can get you the contact info for the parts guy that we use. I posted this in another thread here but I will say it again here. The company that bought the chipper division of Gravely from Ariens is called the M B Company. Ariens still make the Gravely lawn mowers. M B Co is currently making a 6" chipper but developing larger chippers as we speak. They have been able to get us all parts we need for our Gravely over the past 2 years. The company is located about 45mins away from us and when we need parts they ususally over night them to us so that we dont have to drive 1.5hrs round trip. If the ProMark is basiclly the same chipper as the Gravely, I dont think you will be disappointed. This chipper is so easy to maintain and work on that it will blow your mind. Like I said before, I feel the $5K price tag is a bit high. Do you know the hours on the machine?

Ya the machine is huge, It probably is a 395.
It read 262, but that gauge was the newest part on that machine, which led me to believe that either the gauge broke, or the engine was replaced for someone to mess with the hour meter. But the guy selling it never mentioned a newer engine to explain the low hours, since he also bought it from someone else. All in all, that chipper just has me worried because it very old, and finding the parts and someone to work on it might be hard to come by. So I think my focus now is to keep looking.
I have to thank everyone helping me through this costly investment.
I will be moving from Utah to Seattle and that is where I'll need a chipper.
If there are any solid deals available be sure to contact me
Thanks
