Hi,

I am considering buying a Promark stump grinder to do part time grinding on the weekend. Can anyone tell me if model 185SP is a good unit and if $750 is too much to pay for it. I rented a unit similar to this one a few weeks ago and paid $175 for 24 hrs. At that price, it could pay itself off in a few weekends. Any advice is much appreciated!! csr

I have never used the promark grinder but $750 seems VERY cheap for a stump grinder! Be careful! You can easily put that amount or more into rebuilding a decent stump grinder. start replacing belts, bearings, teeth and cutter wheels and you will spend a bundle! Also 18hp is on the lower end of what I would consider for horsepower. Look for something with more power if you can afford it. Also don't forget the insurance and gov't fees if you are starting a business!
