I just got a 'Summer Savings' flyer in the mail from APP for $1.20 a gallon for propane delivered here, for 150 gallons or more. I do not have propane heat, I heat this place with wood (and electricity as backup). APP covers inland NW Oregon and western WA.
Electricity here is 10 cents a KwHr, or $30/MBTU. At $1.20/gal., propane would be $16/MBTU, about half the price of electricity. Firewood is free for me (well, for the low cost of gas for saws and my truck, maybe $10 a cord), so its a no-brainer, but even if I paid $175 a cord for seasoned fir delivered here, that would be $11/MBTU (still cheaper than cheap as buffalo chips propane). Propane prices vary widely here, depending on demand, time of year, and commodity prices. But right now propane is cheaper than NG, with NG going up in price lately ($15 per 1k cf). No NG lines out here though.
