Well after all these weeks of waiting...tomorrow I will be the pround owner of a Stihl MS200T :D ....I can't express my happiness in words. Oh..and she's a steal at $540.00 Out The Door. You know the funny thing.....I almost bought a 338XPT....what a mistake I would have made.

Does anybody use the chain sharp device..that thing made by Pferd. I have 2... a 5/32 and a 7/32. just in case nobody has used this tool..it is phenomonal...gets the tooth and raker at the same time. the best part is that they're only about 15 dollars each.

Tony,

I have been trying out that Pferd chainsharp for a few months now. I am certainly not an experienced chain filer but here's what I've found so far. The chainsharp seems to work quite well until I have gone through about half to two thirds of the tooth. At that point it seems to loose its ability to keep the correct cutter shape, and performance drops off. However, this could easily be due to my poor filing technique.

I'm interested to hear if anyone else has any experience with the tool.

With the 5/32 (especially) be careful of applying too much pressure to the tool.  The round file will flex upward, allowing the flat file to remove too much from the top of the "raker".

Thanks for the tip Glen. I'll watch out for that.

My employer picked one up for $600 Cdn (reg.700) and got two Stihl Timbersports ballcaps tossed in. He tried for an extra bar and chain but that didn't fly.
