I have bunch of pumpkin ash trees that I have cut down. Is this wood good for burning?

Faxinus profunda-Pumpkin Ash

I never had heard of pumpkin (or Red)ash before so did a little research on the net, which seems to indicate it is found Maryland southwards. Are you sure that is what you have cut down in NY?
In any event it appears to be a hard wood, ie used in tool handles, thus would probably burn similar to other ashes, which are used quite common as fuel around here. In fact one site did say it was used as fuel. I use a lot of ash as fuel and though not as good as oak or hard maple, it does the job. Given these trees are known to grown in swamps, they probably are loaded with water and will require a long drying time first.
