Just installed a brand new vanguard 35hp model 613477-0174 on my 630b. Everything went pretty smooth untill I Hooked the positive to a battery and grounded it to the motor mount. Tried to start it but nothing happened. It wount turn over. All wires are connected. except for a green one that appears to be the oil pressure or low oil sensor"

Anybody with experiance with these engine have any suggestions

Assuming your battery is in good shape, make sure when you turn the key to "Start" that there is power getting to the terminal on your starter solenoid. If not, figure out why. If it is getting power and the starter solenoid is not clicking and allowing the power to the starter motor, it has likely failed. I am not all that familiar with low oil sensors, but i dont think it would prevent it from cranking if not hooked up, but i could be wrong.

Did you fry something when you put wire to ground? How big where the sparks? Maybe you blew a fuse.:D

Thanks for the tips guys. Turned out I needed to run power directly to the solinoid from battery. The "tech" at B&S told me all that was needed was to ground and hook up the positive lead, which didn't seem right but I did it. Then I looked it over and figured it out.

Thanks again
