I'm unsure what to make of this one, It looks like it could be legit, but it also has more confusing terms than I can shake a tree at. God help us if the EPA hears of these saws, they'll want us to give up our traditional saws for those things.

I think being tied to an air hose would limit the usefulness of the design to the same purposes for which electric or hydraulic saws are used.

Beyond that, these saws would likely be louder than the other two types.

I can't tell if there is a "fuel" tank on the unit or if it is really just an air hydraulic motor. There is a starter rope handle on the left side where we would expect it to be. That tells me that it might have a fuel tank.

What could be done with a backpack tank of nitrogen, argon or another inert gas to run a hydro motor? Could a hydro motor develop enough speed and torque to cut like a gas powered unit?

If you follow the links there is a better explaination, its' a 4 lobe "rotary" I put rotory in quotes because it's not a true Wankel style engine. The lobes change shape as the engine runs.

I'd followed the "detailed professional design" link and that's were they spoke of the air-operated motor.  Poking around the site further reveals a very Wankel-looking design for engine/pump/etc. use.  There was a patent issued in 2000 for the design though it seems little has become of it.  It may happen that uses get found, and that may even include chainsaws.  Time will tell.

That is a piece of vapor ware similar to the amazing air car and other scams. The quasiturbine had quite a going over about 5 years ago in the alt.energy.hompower google.groups forum. No practical use was noted for it and yes they did have a demonstration I believe of a chainsaw running on fuel. It was pathetic to say the least. I am sure a google search on quasiturbine will get you more fog/smoke/mirrors than you care for.

Harry,
That is what I thought, but wasn't sure. I figured if it was the best thing since sliced bread like the website says that the folks here at AS would talking it up.
