He's been doing a lot of out of town work, and overtime.

Thank you, when you say that, I remember I have read about it before...

This is a tread he really should have contributed in - I believe he once said that there is open-ported 365s, as well as the current closed port ones....;)

sawinredneck, thanks for the links bro! :) I still can't get the seach function to work for me! :dizzy:

SawTroll, I sent Freakingstang a PM. He'll probably get back to me when he's not busy. He usually does! Thanks. :)

The search is acting up for me too, try right clicking on it, and selecting "open". worked for me.

sawinredneck, thanks. The search function isn't working for me today. I don't need anymore saw then this. The dealer doesn't have any 372's. Even if they did they'd want a lot more money then $537 ($579 out the door). I think the price makes this an even better deal. Did you ever get a 365? If so what do you think of it? Like I said I'm going to get a MS260/MS280/353/2152 size saw, which I'll use about 75% of the time. Maybe I'd be better off skipping the MS361/357XP size saw and get the 365 instead. What do you think? ;)

I have a 365 special w/20"& a 24" bar and it is a very good saw, i use it and an ms 310 w/18" for all of my topping, light bucking, and limbing, 18" and under,,,,, also and up side to it is the 372 p/c & 372 BB will bolt right on if you decide to upgrade @ top end time cause the crank case is the same, you may have to find a used 372 carb when you do it but I justy saw one go on beay for $10.00 and a used cyl,. for 50.00 ;)

I own open and closed 365. Most people will never notice the difference in it and a 372.

Good saw and balanced well. Feels better than a 361 with a 24 inch bar.

DO IT!

Fred

I believe you, that's because the 365 is a lot heavier, and balances that bar better........:greenchainsaw:

Personally, I wouldn't want to have more than a 20" bar on the light powerhead of the 361, and actually the longest one I have is an 18" - perfect balance.....:rockn: :rockn:

I have 16, 20 and 24" ones for my 372xpg, and the 24" balances that one pretty good (just a tad front heavy), but the 20" is perfect.

I'm gonna start making room for the 365 this weekend. My friend is going to do some drywall work for me. So I'm going to give him my 029. :D

Excellent move on your part!

I'll say it again - I love my 365 - it is an excellent saw...

Mine has the Walbro carb - I think some of the earlier ones had Zamz's, but I am not sure about that...

Sorry been gone alot lately, but here I am....

I owned two 365's for about 6-7 years as my only saws. Both mine were closed port just like the 372's, but back then they made both open and closed port. I believe all the newer ones are closed port with the better Walbro HD carb.

They did everything I needed them to do. I normally ran them with 20" bars and had a 28" that got used to take out the big trees. I was very surprised that the 365 had the grunt to pull the 28". Granted, it wasn't the fastest thing the world, but I was impressed as it was all I had to get the job done.

In smaller wood, Fred is right. One will be hard pressed to feel the difference between the 365 and the 372. On the best values out there IMO. They also take well to muffler mods and cylinder mods if you are into that down the road.

Both of my 365's were 99' models. They were both closed port with the Zama C3M carbs. They were known to be a little lean on the bottom end (low side jet). I switched both of mine out to the Walbro's, though.

I can be an enabler too.... I have a 365 w/20" b/c rides in my patrol rig everyday. Great saw, pretty torquey for it's size, good av, no problems with it. I also agree with others, that is in 12-18" wood you'll hardly notice a difference between it and a 372. Have a 371 and have run 372s. Interchangeability of parts is a plus too... Need anymore encouragement??

I am primarily a Stihl guy with Husky tendancies from time to time but have to say comparing your 029 to a 365 is like the preverbial apples to oranges. In the end I'll echo the others' sentiments, buy what you like and can get the best buy/support on.:chainsaw:
