I was thinking of taking the certified arborist test this winter in WI, but will be relocating to VT within the next year. Don't want to be stuck forever with a "WI-" cert # ....... Is the state changeable or would I have to retake the test in VT?

Is the test the same anywhere in the US?

Thanks!

I think I heard theres actually 6 versions of the test and the computer randomly picks which onr you get. Other than the "tree id" part which is region specific I believe the tests are the same everywhere. I cant imagine it'd be hard to switch your id number.

Thanks for the replies.

So they are not gonna make me retake the test to keep my C.A. if I move regions?

I know the ID # thing is fussy, but I am just curious if anybody has changed theirs when relocating..

If someone was paying attention it would be like advertising with an out of state cell phone number.

Just thought I would update this.

Talked to a lady at the ISA and she said as of several years ago the test is the same everywhere....

She also said it is a simple matter to change the State of your ID # but that you get a new number as well, not that it matters.

I just went through an across the country move, from Texas to New York. I had taken my test in Texas, and held my cert for about 5 years before moving.

All I did when I moved was changed my local ISA chapter affiliation to NY...number stayed the same, but state changed. Couldn't have been easier.
