I have a Post Oak with a longitudinal split up the trunk. It's still standing just fine and the split doesn't reach the crown, but I want to get some threaded rods in there before it gets worse. Trouble is, I haven't done any large tree bracing before and can't remember how far apart the rods should be spaced along the trunk.

"Whenever practical, the rods should be spaced apart a distance greater than the diameter of wood being braced."-ISA

If more than one bracing rod is being installed, they should be staggered.
