I watched quite a few BC logging videos on Youtube and noticed that most seem to show the trees being felled side hill opposed to the down hill that I am familiar with. The ground looked like it would mostly likely be line skidded, so I don't know if it is to facilitate a grapple or because most of the wood looked like it would have to be bucked. Just curious about the difference. Thanks.

You got it! It's to facilitate bucking. Much more efficient and easier on the legs!

You guys do a lot of tippin' there in ID, don't ya?
 
The guys cutting on our unit right now are laying everything side-hill. No tree lengths up to the landing here either though. Fairly steep ground (coming from somebody with a lack of exposure to steeeeep). Might have to try to snag a few pics one of these days. Tell you what, this trampin around in the brush thing is the cats meow! :msp_thumbup:
