By the lack of replies I'm guessing the answer is "No." I've never done it either. What's the situation? Looking to SRT back up to your TIP after a break on a removal or something?

I'll throw on a pantin with spikes every now and then. Sometimes you've just got to run a few feet up a rope even on a takedown, and i'd rather climb the rope with a pantin and spikes than footlock it with spikes. It does ride a little further forward on the foot, obviously, but no big deal. Just got to make sure you know where your other leg is in relation to the pointy end of the gaff on the way up the rope.

You got it Beo. That's exactly what I was trying to do. I've been on a large Red oak that is 6' at the base. I've got 30' to my first limb and can not get my lanyard around it to nearly 60'. It's huge. Biggest tree I've done in this state. 20x 20 drop zone. I set a line and tried to spike up on day 1. It's like trying to climb a 60' sheer cliff. I slipped yesterday and took the hide off of three fingers. I ended up footlocking most of the way but It was a #####. I've got an old foot injury and it hurts to footlock.

Anyway. I tried to put the CMI under my spike today but it was a no go. I just used my ascenders to get up there and put my spike on that foot once I got set in the tree.
