new here, not to the intarweb, so I used search and learned a lot. Just about to pull the trigger on a Huskvarna 460 from your main sponsor, and wanted to thank everyone here for all the good info. I'll be sure to watch out for the fragile plastic handles, but for the price it looks like the saw I need. Also ordering a "small Alaskan mill" and some rip chains. Extra bar etc...

"You stupid newbie!" comments welcome.

PS: I've never touched a chainsaw in my life, and have no intention of killling myself with it. Not afraid of it, but have a proper respect for it, and all the safety gear and training in place.

Again: thanks, this site has been very helpful.

If you are dead set on a 460 I would recommend the stihl 460. I promise it will cut circles around a Huskey 460, Even the huskey fans will admit to that.

True enough, but these saws arent even in the same class. Stihl= 76.5cc. Husky=60.3cc. Nice little difference in price too. I know guys who own both and both are nice saws for what they are used for. Hope you enjoy your new toy Duboi Vol.

Thanks Ray, that's exactly the input I am looking for. I will take a hard look at the Stihl. Price is not a "make-or-break" and this is not a toy. I've got a lot of hard work ahead of me and a chainsaw is just one of the tools I will need to get the job done.

Welcome here!

The Husky 460 is probably an OK saw for its intended use, but it is heavy for its power, and has too much plasic in its construction, for my liking.

How much more money is the 359 from that sponsor?
It is a much nicer saw!

Yeah, thanks, SawTroll I think you've talked me into a 359. For 50 bucks more it seems like a no-brainer.

One thing I am still getting used to: only 3.9 hp out of 59cc. As a kart racer, I am used to 100cc making 27 hp. Of course they only run a few hours between rebuilds....

So now I am reading about mods for a 359. You guys are just EVIL! :D
