It's raining here too. I am revising our invoices. Planning a big job for next week. I also went to look at tile for a bathroom we are redoing. And reading and posting here and other places. How's that for some ideas?

I need some ideas. It's been raining a lot, and all the equipment works fine.

What do you do on rainy days? I'm thinking profitable work, but anything will be an improvement on our NOTHING.

Talk crap online? That is something to do. Oh I got it, fix something? No? Paint? Organize bolts? Sweep? Sleep? Talk crap online is what I am doing I hope I gave you some good suggestions besides work. Which brings me to this: you know what happens when tree guy gets wet?

I normally just work. I'm a bit odd though. I like to work in the rain. Depends on the job. Nothing too technical, no trimmings, just easy, fast paced, wet sawdust spewwin' out the backside of my 66 while I'm being drenched good times. Chips get a little heavy but it's all in good fun.

i would do that if I could wear a speedo and do it. I hate trying to move when my clothes are soaked. My clothes are part of my equipment...
I think the rain adds years in a day to some equipment. I keep my pole saw head dry, I just replaced it after a year with the same blade.

Speedo? No thanks. Don't like the idea of wood and brush that close to my jiggly bits. Not after the recent run in I had with the skin mites, especially. Man to THOSE lil bastads tear up the nether regions.

Was this a joke and you forgot to tell us the punch line?

Rainy days I usually work in the office, the front seat of my truck. It rained here on Tuesday and I went to the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. I don't usually get to do something enjoyable like that but had to take a look. It's been a while and I wanted to see big well maintained trees. I had not been there since I started climbing and pruning myself. Brushed up on my tree id thing too.

Here in Oregon it rains constantly fall, winter, and spring (light drizzle mostly). So everybody works as normal - else there would be no work done!

The exception is road paving work which they do in the summer dry season.

Loggers around here work in the rain, but stop working in the dry season due to fire danger.

No one uses an umbrella here. If someone is using an umbrella, we know they are from out of the area...

rain work....

chipping is good, catching up on splitting firewood. Some times if it's just an hour or two we will go inside for training. Knot tying, safety etc. Or we just work balls to the wall and then when it rains take the day off. We worked today in a light to heavy rain all day but if it rains heavy I give the guys a day off. I guess it depends on the work and on the lawn situation etc etc....

I go to the saw shop, check out the vermeer dealer.
Go and park in the car wash bay and clean the truck out , detail the inside.
.
Spend money. Order stuff online.

Sometimes lots of stuff.......

Throw on the rain gear and go to it! Gonna get wet with sweat so whats a little rain gonna do? Its miserable but its making money. BTW Does anyone know of a lightweight, breathable rain gear tough enough to hold up to some abuse from brush dragging and general use? The rain gear I wear is the kind on "Deadliest Catch", rubber lined cloth that doesn't breath. Great in the cold but in the summer, I would get less wet in the rain as opposed to the sweat.

What to do.....
Head to deer camp. Drink beer. Look at great grandpa's 22 point buck hangin over the stove. Put on the rain gear and make canals in the dirt to help the water run off faster. Fix the critter damage since the last time I was there.
But now I have moved to florida, leaving the great white north of Negaunee, MI. SO I just watch tv or catch up on paperwork.
