I try to knock out as much ground-based ornamental pruning as I can. Dress in layers. Keep changes of gloves handy.
if its really raining I mebbe won't go out, but if it's light rain or intermittent showers, I dig it. The pole pruner blades are sorta lubricated by the wetness, and the Silky saw doesn't care. Also, if it's raining I turn up the ear-protective radio headset and since nobody else in their right mind is out in it, I'll be (no pun intended) singin' in the rain and havin a jolly old time while getting paid. Seems too good to be true.
I can't count the number of times I've been working in the rain and it suddenly clears up. Change shirt, back to business as usual.
The rains mentioned in Texas, however, are a totally different animal. I watched some of your weather while on vacation and there's really no working in that. Hang in there. You'll have your drought back soon.
Travel safe TreeTX.
