Located a machine for $1500 only catch is it need a motor. Guy says a tree fell on it but by the looks of him, the machine, and some of the guys at the shop, it was being towed to fast around a corner and it got rolled. Has new belts, bearing blocks, and teeth. Cylinders all look good. Don't get me wrong, the machine is far from clean but it does look like there is anything leaking oil into the dust/dirt covering the parts. Main question is how do I get the clutch off and any options for a bigger motor? Can a 25hp just drop right on it or am I stuck with the 20hp kohler magnum family.

update

Clutch and pulley are off...buts its a real goofy size 1-7/16x4.25" anyone think if I change clutch/pulley, I'll have more options for motors?

Engine swap info

I used to work as A Briggs & Stratton sales rep. You can contact Briggs or Kohler and ask them about "RE-POWERING" your machine. They both have a fairly extensive collection of engine replacement info. If someone somewhere has done it the may have a list of all the steps that need to be done along with info on how big you can go. You probably need to contact Central Power Systems for Briggs and a company called Gardner about Kohler. They are both located in Columbus Ohio. Hope this helps!

That shaft size and length is not goofy at all. Both Kohlers and Briggs Vanguards small block and big block engines all come with models with that size/length shaft so should be no problem repowering.

I'm about to swap out a 25hp Kohler with a 35hp Vanguard engine with that same shaft size/length. Anything much bigger than a 29 hp in either Kohler or Briggs I think is a big block and would take some mods to get it to fit, but well worth it according to those who have made the switch.
