Hey, I am considering upgrading from my rg 1625 . I am having a dealer demo of a rg 1645 for me on Monday. Has anyone on the forum bought one or tried one out. Thoughts? I am considering the 1645 or a 1635. Anyone have an idea of what a good price would be on both of these?

Post your comments, I would love to have a larger Rayco myself but it is not in the cards for this year.

I'm having flashbacks to when I had my Rayco. Underpowered, no remote, eating dirt and dust all day, breakin my back holding the levers, straining my neck having to look around the cutter head.

How much was your machine again...?

(and how does it do on a nice lawn?)

Alot. But used, like I got mine, it's probably not much more than a new 1645.

With only 3.0 psi it does just fine. I've done many jobs on very nice yards. If I have to do a sharp turn, I can use a sheet of plywood. Usually I can go straight to the stump and then turn on the chips to go straight to the next one.

Rayco makes a great little machine. I'm just glad that those days are over for me.

I have the same machine as Scott. The machine has a selling price of around $46,000 new. I got mine for a little less , but not much less.
I also had a little Rayco 1625, 25HP, gas machine when I started out. Great little starter machine, but it is pretty basic, compared to my new 7015TRX.

I got my Carlton last April (2006 model) with 160 hours on it for $29,900.

I think part of my problem is that I dont like payments. I cant imagine making a payment on a $35k machine over these long Indiana winters.

I am cheap, its true. Whats a payment on a 35k machine these days?

Depends on interest rate, how much of it you finance, and how many years you stretch out the payments. Assuming you finance the whole amount, about $600.00/month would not be far off.
