Just purchased a used Carlton 2400-4 which had green teeth on it. I had used Rayco super teeth on my old machine (vermeer) and wanted to use these on the 2400. 2400 has a 1 inch cutter wheel and the bolts for the green teeth are to long (2 3/4 " )for the super teeth. I ordered 2 1/8 bolts ( next size lower) for the super teeth and find them 1/4 " short. Can't find any 2 3/8 bolts anywhere. Does anyone use super teeth on their Carlton or have any idea where I can get the right size bolts ?

I use a 2500 & 2700 Carlton on my city job with the Rayco teeth, Bolts are ordered through NAPA, they fit exact so they are out there. Not sure where NAPA gets them from. Also check with Baileys, at http://www.baileys-online.com they are a sponsor on this site, they have a good supply of parts.

I assume that the 2500 has a 1 inch cutter wheel. Can you tell me the bolt length that you have? I checked Bailey's and they don't have a 2 3/8 bolt and NAPA here says they don't carry bolts that size. When I thread the 2 1/8 bolt through the wheel I have about 1/4 inch of open thread left in the threaded pocket

Thanks

Both cutter wheels are the same. I will check the bolt measurement and see what I have. I will try and find out where my NAPA gets them from. Mine fit flush at the threaded side.

Talked to the Napa shop man today, he claims the bolts are coming direct from Carlton. Did not have a ruler at work today to measure but the bolts they get usually fit flush or one - two thread off to the inside. Hope this helps.

Let me know if you have any luck, if not I can probably get the info about the Carlton dealer Napa uses to get the bolts.

call " McMASTER-CARR" 603-600-3600

I was able to find what I needed at an Arborist Supply about 80 miles from me

Thanks for the response(s) to my question. I appreciate your taking the time.

Is there a rule of thumb for how far the bolts should fit into the threaded side? The bolts on my machine stick out about a half inch. Is this too much? It doesn't seem make the wheel unbalanced or anything.

The threads should not extend past the pockets. As they wear it will become a pain to get them out. The bolts sticking out will also cause drag on the cutting wheel as it goes through the chips.
Threaded side should be even or in by one thread at most.
