While we were at the Ohio gtg, Ralph broke out a digital scale and we filled the gas tanks, oil tanks, 16" bars and chains and got some real world weight of the above saws. Correct me if i am wrong on the Dolmar 5100S Ralph but I think it showed 15.5 LBS and the 361 17.5 LBS, 357 17.5 LBS and the Makita/Dolmar 6401/7900 was 18 LBS, Partner 5000 15.5 LBS with full fuel oil and 16" b+c's. So there you go real world user specs as being used. Thanks Brad for posting the pics of the 357 and 361 weights for proof of real world conditions.

Thanks for posting, interesting info. Any word on how those 2 pictured compared cutting wise?

The ones in the pics are mine. the 361 is stock the 357 woods ported.
Here are some times from the gtg. Ian was pushing to much on his 361 and bogging it in the cuts and bringing down the rpm,s in the cut, is why his time was off.

60cc class and down
9" poplar, one down one up

Kevin 357 5.62 woods ported
Kevin 361 7.25 stock
Brad 361 7.12 woods ported
Ian 361 13.30 woods ported

Almost forgot the 357 had a faster time by Ralph.
Pretty bad when you get whipped by someone else running your own saw.
I am still trying to learn to run a saw, it's just a hobby for me.

Ralph 357 5.15

Hi C4F, looks like my old 361 still runs okay. I would like to know how my ported 361 would have done against your 357. Looks like you had fun.

Thanks kevin

Its rediculous how a couple of ounces will be squabbled over and in the real world like you have pointed out most the saws of the same class are the same weight when they are filled up.

do you have other times. how did the 5000 do against the 5100? I imagine it is a little slower but how close was it?

Is Ian the gentleman concerned about the compression of his saw? What is your take, did you run it?

When are you all getting together next? I would like to send a saw out to you to see how it stacks up to other modded saws.

Thanks Kevin

Well if you are going to be running race saws, my stuff would be like bringing a rubber band to a gun fight.

If you mean you are going to be racing stock, woods and race saws. I would like to see how thing stack up.

Is this to be in the beginning or end of the summer, give me a rough month to shoot for.

Wow, the old 5000's do hold there own huh.

Nice job with your mod would you mind pm'ing me some details?

It looks like you are getting a lot better at running them too.

thanks

Pm sent. The mod 5000 was built for me, by someone knowing what they are doing.

I would guess some race will be there and woods ported and stock as usual to compare to.

Better, but a long way to go. I am learning that anyone that runs saws for a living or has run saws for awhile or a firewood cutter all the time. Can run my saws faster then me :bang: . I guess they can just feel and hear the sweet spot in the saws running, better then me doing it as hobby for fun. But I am trying to learn.
