Well,it's a first for me,working on a red saw that wasn't Homelite. These 2 gems were dropped of for a tune and test.Models 490 and 630.They had set for about 3 years but started and ran just super.I put a new chain on the 490 and did the 90 second tickle on the 630.[Actually I can't sharped a chain in 90 seconds, that must be a west coast thing ;) ]They cut fairly well.I was more impressed with the 490 than the 630.The guy also left an 011 Stihl.I've never heard or seen one before. It's got a broken throttle cable, thus a trip to the dealer for that.

The 490/590 is actually yellow but in disguise. Shhh, do not tell, but it is Partner :p
The dang little thing had more guts than the 630,I was surprised.

I have the big brother of the 630, I must say, the 630 isnt too bad, but I LOVE the 670, which will kick butt with a 24" bar and 7T rim on it.

Now,on that,I do honestly believe,my pro mac 610,had more moxie than that 630 J-Red.About the same displacement.Imagine that, and the little Mac the most stepped on saw on all the forums.

I'm rather fond of my 590. Those two look mighty clean.
Well of course they do,I'm a spiffey type guy,so to speak.I gave them the old blow off with the air compresser, and the wd-40 treatment. If i can't make em run at least they look good, duh :)

Hey Al - have you ever run an 011 before? Good saw it is. Great for climbing too and it has some good umph to them. The saw you mentioned, is that for repair or now do you own it?

Good to hear, I have been keeping my eye open for a 670 or a 044, but have been leaning toward the 044 for ease of getting parts, but if I can find a nice 670 in good shape at a decent price first I'm sure I wouldn't pass it up.

I did run the 011 for a short time, with a half azzed fix on the broken throttle cable, which must be replaced.None of these saws are mine,I'm just doing repairs and tuning them. The 011 didn't impress me too much.I've got a toy Mac 120 and a Poulan s 25 a that will cut circles around it.Now not to be mistaken,it's a nice little saw and was most likely made as a light duty trimmer,of which it would be good for but I don't think I would care to use it in a tree.

Thanks Mange,I don't need a thing. They just needed a little tweek on the carb, and some attention to the chains. They both run real good now,and the 690 has improved a bit.Someone had filed the chisel chain at about 15 degrees, with a grinder.I don't have a clue as to why.I reground it to 35 degrees and tweeked it with a file.It cuts real good,if I do say so myself[hmm,I guess I just did] :)

Can you still get the parts from Jonsered for the 670? or is it dig and hope to find the parts for them?

The Husky 268 is essentially the same saw as the 670. My 268 XP with a Stack filter pulls a 24inch bar in hardwood with an 8 pin sprocket-and pulls it well.
