Does anyone have any hints on how to restore the cream and orange finish on old Stihl metal saws that are worn through?

Paint them. You can buy factory Stihl spray paint at your dealer. There are guys who'll go the truely professional route, and have paint mixed up and apply it with HVLP means. But for the couple that I've done, the spray paint, with a good protective top coat works fine for me.

Thanks Jeff. I will give it a try. Do you get the clear coat from Stihl?

...also, when you paint the metal, bake it at 225F for about 45 minutes. Use a convection oven (when the wife is out) or you'll get overheated paint.

If you don't bake it, it real easy to damage the paint for about a month. Very thin coats each baked is the best way.
