You should be able to find the right rod at a hobby shop. It's hard but you can bend it.

It's commonly called piano wire or hobby wire. Measure the diameter of the hole on the carb that it hooks into.
I’ve run some old saws that looked pitiful inside the carb boxes all because of the rigged up aftermarket linkages. My favorite is when someone replaces all the links with braided and twisted together baling wire or concrete tie wire. But I’ve run some saws that were still perfectly fine like that though. 😂 It looks like an abomination though.
 
Problem with these Remingtons is the trigger end is actually fastened around an intermediate lever which is pushed by the trigger. The wire linkage isn't coming off the the lever without splitting the case to remove it. Looking at the picture maybe the linkage can be unclipped from the lever on an assembled saw. It's in an awkward spot for sure.
