We did a removal of two palm trees in a back yard today and I was wondering what someone would charge. The two are vary close (inches) from a roof of a house and fence, the only drop zone would be the alley way. The tops of both had to be rigged down so they wouldn't hit the power lines, after that I just fell the rest of them in pices in the alley. I told the lady 1,200 and she was all over that, was that fair?View attachment 265907View attachment 265908View attachment 265909View attachment 265910

If the homeowner was pleased and you feel good about it then sounds good, why do you ask?

We were all done and warped up in a little under 4 hours. I had to do the bid from a picture, and didn't know there was a alley. So of corse there was a access fee, and with no drop zone. So the bid was higher then normal, if I would have known about the drop zone (alley).

I've heard that setting a throwline in the apex of those Milwaukee palms is just the ticket.
Especially if you use 10,000lb 3-strand rope to pull them over.

According to some on this site $300 an hour is a reasonable rate. Around here $90 -$120 an hour is what a bucket truck and arborist will cost you with a groundy. Our economy is low and the tax base is also low.

Adding the fact that its a palm and that the area was tight I can see you figuring this to be an all day job and it just worked out better, if it were me I wouldn't have charged the full amount, but thats just me. Say maybe an even $1000 for the 4 hours and you could go do another small job or maybe some equipment maintenance.

I guess it's fair the more I think about it. 300 per hour would be something high risk where you got to rope everything down? I've only been climbing for 7 months and I really like it. I just want to make sure my pricing fair. We all know under biding is no fun. Thanks for the input.

Sounds like you made out well. I always bid high on palms because the dump fees kill me. I usually don't get the job which I am fine with. I am not a fan of them. I got stabbed pretty good by a canariensis once which sent me tot he hospital.

I like real trees more :msp_thumbup:

I hear you there, I think they are the nastiest tree to do, and some can just be out right brutal. Most of the time I won't do them unless there's 40+ or more, then its worth while.
Real trees are a lot more fun.
