Hey guys I am looking at 4 torx head bolts on the muffler. The top two seem to only hold the muffler together and the bottom two go through the muffler to the frame. I have undone all 4 and the muffler still seems fimly attached. There must be something I am not seeing...thanks for any advice!

Their is two more on the inside of muffler. 1 on each side of port.

You'll see where the muffler is pressed inside each other pry them apart and inside you'll see two more torx head bolts. Remove them and take the whole assembly off.

***Remember in which order the gaskets, and deflector sheilds go back on!**

I'm sorry,.... too funny. LMAO. Torx T-27, 2 in the top, 2 in the bottom, 2 inside. When you reassemble it use Loctite 242 on all 6. Cheers, Simon.

take the 4 bolts out of the cover, tap the edge of the cover with your bar wrench, out it will come, and then take the two out that connect the muffler to the cylinder

never heard of using loctite, never heard of alot of things though

I hope you are putting a dual port back on:clap:

Why drop $40+ on a dual port cover when you can mod the stocker? A few minutes work with a few simple hand tools, and your're in business.

Ha ha your not the first to have done that!!!!!!

They are just under $31 out here, and they do direct the hot gasses away from the wood and plastic, and have removable screens.

Yeah, what Bumpr and Andy said!!! I have seen some ugly muffler ports that kill the look of a nice Stihl. I have seen some good ones too...:biggrinbounce2:

If Stihl makes it, it has got to be great!!!:hmm3grin2orange:

Because homemade ones are stupid.

In this case Stihl is the only one to have a dual port cover. Every other saw you are on your own.

Like Four Paws said you can do it yourself.............or buy the dual port cover............your choice!!!

There are some real nice dual port mufflers out there!!!
