Rented a ASV RC-50 from a local rental place and it was the slowest skid steer I have ever ran....like it was stuck in low or something. I've ran the RC-100's(non-rental units) and they haul serious butt. Specs say 8mph for rc-50 and 11mph for the rc-100 . One of my bro's buddies said some of the rental places adjust them so they won't go as fast....is their any truth to that???

Maybe the drive motors were about shot?

Quite possibly. The controls were weird too....to go forward or backwards, you had to push the joystick all the way down firmly before it would move and then it didn't move real fast.

That sound's like the valve's are dirty to me.
When I first got my ASV the joystick for the loader was that way. I pulled the valves apart, and YUCK it was nasty in there. I cleaned the valves, then the line's, then removed the tank and cleaned it out, changed all 3 hyd filters at $74 each. I put it all back together, and filled it with oil (all 30 gallon's) and it's worked like new ever since.
It was amazing how much dirt was in the system.
