Hello, I broke a bar stud mount on a partner 5000. Can I weld some suport there or would there be to much heat put on any seals, oiler or anything else? Thanks Dave

That information would have to come from someone familiar with the particular model and what alloy it is made of. Some oil tanks have a gasket between bar mount and oil tank. That could get cooked if it was the case. The rear stud woud be trickier because it is closer to pump and crank seals than the front one would. In any case you would have to be sure to get a proper metal match between the filler and the casting. In other words, is it magnesium or aluminum. Tig puts a lot more heat in than Mig, but is easier to get magnesium filler rod for Tig. Doubt you will find anyone with magnesium Mig setup. I think you need to look for an organ donor saw!

Frank

Lots of luck

If i remember well, you can remove the stud from the case by hitting it,they are not screwed in the case.It will fall in the empty oil tank, use a small magnet to get it out.The are pressed in the case, not hard to remove usually. You can check studs from Husky or Jonsered, the should be the same size but with a different "head" shape. You can modify the head to bring it like the Partner.

That stud is still available through a Poulan or a Husqvarna dealer. Part # 505 22 09 37. My price lists show it cheaper through Poulan.

Thanks for your replies. The bar stud is fine its the magnesium surrounding the stud(front) that I broke. It does'nt look like there's a gasget between bar mount and oil tank. Would anyone know about finding a parts list for partner 5000+?

how bout a heli coil? after a so called mechanic enlarged the stud hole on a 394 i put a heli coil in it. i found a stud that was 10mm on one end and 8mm on the other to replace it.
