Is it really necessary to replace the limiter caps after a carb adjustment? I know that the adjusters don't have the normal tension springs, but the o-rings seems to hold them in place pretty good.
I've run an 044 for eight years after removing the caps and never had a problem. Now I've just removed them on my 460 and I'm thinking...has anyone actually had one back out on them before?

yes, it's important. They will move... If yours haven't, you're just lucky, and for 50c each, why take the chance. You'll have plenty of adjustment once you retune and get them centered in the middle of the range, instead of a one end like the factory setting.

Can anyone confirm that the limiter caps for the MS200 and MS200T are different then what the rest of the Stihl saws have? Wanted to buy a tool and the Dealer said he does not even own one as they were $60 for that particular model. He said he just removes a roll pin in the carb to gain access at adjusting the screws.

I made him adjust the carb with the screen out so it would not be set to lean when I bought it. He said he did not have to mess with the removing the limiter roll pin as the settings were pretty good from the factory. I am still going to verify it when I get my tach.

They are differnt from the little red caps on Walbro carbs, but found on several other Stihl saws that use the Zama carb. The 200t Zama style limiter (only on the H screw?) just pulls off with pliers or lever off with a screwdriver if the carb is out.
