I know it's a rerun but some folks may not have seen it. Looks like the History Channel is playing the Logging episode of Modern Marvels tonight at 9pm ct if anyone's interested.

I guess it was alright. Good selling point for Craftsman. I am just used to conventional (not mechanical) and huge Helicopters. They did show the K-Max heli. Only has a max hook of 7000lbs - I think.

My thoughts exactly. I first saw it a long time ago, and waited the whole show to see some good hand falling. Not much at all! The history aspect of it was cool. But I can't even sit through it all the way now knowing there's not much woodtick footage.

I had no idea that it was that mechanized now ?? The history was very interesting though, showed some good footage of older times. I would have liked to seen more on chainsaws though. I did notice they would show craftsman saws every once in a while.

yeah i was let down a little. i didn't know they'd be trying to give enviros a new "good" face.

"...the majority of enviros know we need wood...and accept it..."

failed to mention that there's still spiked timber out there hurting loggers and millers (and some of it's newer).

i did like that limber/bucker though.

I couldn't find the show here. They were showing a special on Military scrap yards, it was a good show.

Enjoyed it. Hard to imagine a modern logging show without a stihl chainsaw. Sears must of been an initial sponsor. Steep ground still uses the manual fallers and high lead around here. I think "Sometimes a great notion" does a better job of showing north west logging methods. Thought the remote control choker release was quite interesting. Got a big kick out of the big old saws.

This was the Modern Marvels that was on BEFORE History of Logging.

Great show I have seen it at least 5 times and still watch it everytime it is on.

They mention Stihl a bunch...especially when talking about the invention of the chainsaw.
