Been cooking this one up since last fall. Got it last winter. Had good compression and ran for about 30 seconds. I decided right then I was going to restore the 750 and ditch the less than ideal paint job it was sporting.

This is the only picture I can find of the as-received look:

Didn't take me long to notice it needed a crankshaft with the flywheel threads being completely trashed. The flywheel was missing fins so that got replaced. (These 700/750/850 flywheels seem to be rather fragile. I have several missing one or 2 fins.) Reason it quit running, however, was the aftermarket Nova ignition had failed. So, I had to replace all the original ignition components. (I knew I kept snatching up 700Ds for a reason.)

ModifiedMark let me tie up his sandblast cabinet for an afternoon.

After reassembling the engine:

I'm terrible at stopping to photo my work. Just as soon get the project finished.

When the weather finally broke for me last week, I jumped to get it painted.

And the final product:

Serial number# 310000. Easy to remember.

Snazzed up with a NOS Pioneer bar. Maybe not original for the 750, but still looks good. I have a new deflector to install on the clutch cover.

Fuel bowl, OMC carby, primer, and whatever the hell else is jammed in there. I took some extra time to seal up the induction path better than Pioneer did. Lots of gaps to suck in dust otherwise.

Awesome job! Only way it would better is if it had sawdust on it! How many cubes is the 750?

Very nice work! It is going to be a looker or a runner?

Both. The imperfections in the paint job don't bother me much. Makes it that much easier to run the saw and mess it up.

It'll be dirty soon enough. Engine is 6.5 cubes. Only 4cc larger than the 600 series, and the 750 whomps them all. It was sold in the early to mid 60s and had to be just about the best falling saw out there.

Wow- beautiful saw and restoration, thanks for pictures! Did you have the color custom made, or can you give the brand and color name?
