I've had this old saw in the shop for awhile now. The owner has really been a great guy to work with on it too. It was slightly scored and pretty well worn when we got it......forgot the "before" pics though.

But here we go.....

First we had the case halves, tanks, covers, etc powder coated. It wasn't an exact match but it is much closer than it appears in these first pics.

Sweet!!!

Do you bead blast the parts to bare metal first? If so, what process. That factory paint is really on there.

We send the parts out for powder coating Will. They do all the blasting and color matching.....but, yes they are blasted to bare metal.

We ran a tank thru the old girl then tore it back apart for port work.....

I'll have it all buttoned back up tomorrow and post some video of it running......

Beautiful work!!!

I always thought the 2100 series were great looking saws.

Thanks John, I'm with you on that assessment.

The owner plans to coat the top cover and a/f cover with matching paint.......I'm not too sure how that will end up. I was hoping we could come up with some NOS covers but..... :(

If he uses a two part automotive paint with a flex agent to would probably be fine. He also have a set of decals to add.

Hey, I love the work - particularly the ingenious use of the golf tee.

Al.

the automotive paint works on plastic ,a lot of sand dune atv's around here have custom paint jobs on fenders ,just put enough on to cover ,too much layers it will chip ,old style acrylic laquer sticks to automotive plastic door panels real well in cars ,i ususlly scrub them with a scotchbrite and acrylic laquer thinner before spray them ,it helps the bond

NOS parts for these are becoming extremely hard to come by due to their popularity. I was telling another member recently that the last NOS air filter cover on ebay brought
almost 100$. :(
