Check Sherrill. They are a site sponsor. They don't have snatch blocks as large as you mention, but they do carry rope of that caliber.

Bailey's, another site sponsor, has good rope also.

You can also try Wesspur....

Check out Serra Moreno, I remember Don Blair having some really big blocks on a few of the jobs he talked about.

The biggest I've worked with are 4kLBS

As for cordage, I go to marine supply companies like Seattle Marine.

Are you sure you are not going a bit big on that? I use a 4x reduction for SWL on blocks, so if the rope is 2000 swl then the tensile on the block is 8000.

Though I only use the 10:1 SWL reduction if I am going to slam into a buttcatch several times in a day. The I will usually have factored the cost of the rope in and retired it due to melt after the one job.

rigging stuff

Hi,

Wes Spur, $369.00 US for a 1 inch Hobbs Block. Riggin line prices are also very good. I like their prices, but most of all I like their service. Nice people to talk to and ask questions of.

Can't imagine why you'd need 1 inch line...3/4 inch stable braid is rated for 22,000 lb I think.....and a 3/4 inch block can be found at Bailey's for only about $150.00.....

When you say sky line, do you mean speedline? What use will the line be subjected to? Will you be shock loading it? If not, I have 600 feet of 1/2 inch no stretch Spectra that I'll sell for $975 plus shipping. Rated at 24,000 lb tensile...fine for speedlining as long as it isn't shockloaded. It would overstress your anchors and rigging.

I can also get you a 600 foot spool of the 3/4 double braid for prolly $500!! Not Samson, but just as good. Heavier line, so it would cost a lot more to ship it from Seattle. My supplier's prices beats every place else, hands down!

I've never done a tree where I needed 3/4 inch line till lower down in the tree. Do tell us more. Or hire me to do the job for ya!

Check your pm's....

Try Redden Net

There's one in Vancouver (Steveston area) and I think Cambell River as well. The Vancouver local has an ex-samson rep working there. They know their ropes and the prices are low. Otherwise PAS in North Vancouver, Bill is the man.
